WHAT DOES A MOTHER DO ....

..... when she is "thrown over" for the current woman in the life of a son?

I'll tell you what she does......

She registers for a photography class at the local community college... and then she simultaneously checks into classes she can take after its completion.

She resumes her gourmet cooking ventures just so she can say "I've tried making that".

She plans a major purging of the remnants of the boys' belongings in their former rooms.

She decides to repaint every room in the house in colors SHE wants to experience.

She "goes green" by planting a small garden of heirloom tomatoes, tasty peppers, and cooking herbs outside her kitchen door.

She plots ways to get rid of the boys' long-forgotten pets so the house is pet-free.

She considers weekend destinations and jaunts that might require an overnight stay.

She starts to question where and how she wants to be living 5, 10, 15 years down the road.

But most of all, she makes it a point to stay busy in an effort to keep her mind off how badly it hurts to no longer be needed, to no longer be the important person in the life of her child, and she tries like hell to keep from crying.

Haha!! Good for you, Gena, that's the ticket. Getting thrown over for another woman means you did your job. Now have fun!

Maybe someday there will be grandkids and you can dote on them. And with grandkids, you never have to change roles.
